Province Details
See Wikipedia; also see Canada for information relating to the country as a whole, and the national operator VIA Rail.
Maps
British Columbia province is covered by the SPV "North America Railroad Atlas" volume Western Canada.
Rail Operators
Regional services between Prince Rupert and Jasper are operated by VIA Rail.
TransLink is the Vancouver area transport authority. Services are operated by subsidiaries and contractors under the overall TransLink brand, and with information provided via the TransLink website.
West Coast Express
West Coast Express (WCE) is a single "commuter rail" route, on the CP line between Vancouver and Mission City. Services operate only at peak times, in the peak direction, on Mondays - Fridays only.
- Infrastructure: see national details.
- Map: on the main WCE page
- Timetables: on the main WCE page
- Disruptions: on the TransLink alerts page
A very short section of the WCE route, through Mission City WCE station, is used by VIA Rail's "Canadian" service (westbound only). Note that the track layout does not allow the VIA Rail train to call at the WCE station, so it uses a separate "Mission Harbour" station adjacent to the bridge over the Fraser River. Due to shared unidirectional operation of CN and CP lines in British Columbia, the eastbound "Canadian" runs on the south side of the Fraser in this area, with a call at Abbotsford - see PSUL: World Beyond Europe entry BC1 for more information.
Koaham Shuttle
The Koaham Shuttle (also known as Kaoham Shuttle) service runs on a section of former British Columbia Railway line between Lillooet and Seton Portage. See PSUL: World Beyond Europe entry BC3 for more information.
White Pass & Yukon
The White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad is an international line between Skagway (Alaska) and Carcross (Yukon Territory), now operated largely for tourists.
Infrastructure
- Gauge: 3' (914mm)
- Electrification: none
- Rule of the road: single track throughout
Tourist Lines

Metro and light rail systems
Vancouver
