Recent and Future Changes

Recent Changes

Tren Solar de la Quebrada was officially launched on 18 June 2024 and inaugurated over the 35 km, between Volcán, Tumbaya, Purmamarca and Maimará, on 19 June 2024. The final 7km section, Maimará to Tilcara, opened 13 August 2024.

From 16 November 2023, Tren de las Sierras regional services, in the northern city of Córdoba, have been extended 34 km to serve Capilla del Monte, following the completion of renovation work on the metre-gauge line from Valle Hermoso.

According to newspaper reports the last train from Bragado to Pehuajó ran on Sunday 27 October 2024. Services remain 3x weekly from Buenos Aires Once to Bragado.

On a more positive note Neuquén to Cipolletti reopened on 03 February 2025. The cross province suburban service ceased some years ago.

Another regional service was extended from 7 April 2025. Five trains of the Mondays to Fridays service between Resistencia and Cacuí are extended west of Cacuí to Puerto Tirol. Note this is a branch off the northern Belgrano line from Cacuí, not off the southern Belgrano passenger line from Cacuí to Los Amores.
