- The Downeaster - The Downeaster is operated by Amtrak and managed by the Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority (NNEPRA), an agency of the state of Maine. It runs from Boston, north through Massachusetts and New Hampshire to enter Maine and call at Wells, Saco, Portland, Freeport and Brunswick, which is the terminus.
Tourist Lines
- Belfast and Moosehead Lake Railroad - Excursion trains run 30 miles from the City Point Center Yard and Museum in Belfast to the Sebasticook Bridge at Burnham Junction.
- Downeast Scenic Railroad - Operates for 6 miles from Hancock, Maine, through Ellsworth Falls, and across the Union River Bridge on the former Maine Central Railroad.
- Seashore Trolley Museum - Located in Kennebunkport, Maine. A demonstration route leads one and a half miles (2.4 km) to the Talbott Park loop.
- Boothbay Village Railway - Train rides are available in the museum grounds on a 2 ft (610 mm) railway.
- Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum - This is a 2 ft (610 mm) narrow gauge railway located in Portland, Maine. It operates a 1+1⁄2-mile (2.4 km) long railroad that runs along the waterfront of Casco Bay.
- Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes Railroad - Based at Philips, Maine this 2 ft (610 mm) gauge railway runs for 3 miles (4.8 km).
- Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington Railway - This 2 ft (610 mm) railway runs over 3.2 miles (5.1 km) of track at Alna, Maine.
